At a glance

The four numbers that hit you first.

Per-ticket fees are only half the story. The other half is whether the tools you actually need cost extra per month, and how many tiers stand between you and them.

Eventbrite's tier structure

Seven plans. One real ceiling.

Eventbrite's pricing is structured around how many paid registrations you sell per month. The free plan is real but limited. The "Pro" tiers (100, 250, 1K, 2.5K, 5K, 10K) ladder up the monthly fee in exchange for higher included ticket counts and a few extra tools at the top. BuzzHive collapses this entire ladder into one free tier with everything unlocked.

Eventbrite also offers Premium (custom enterprise pricing) and Pro 2.5K / 5K tiers between the ones shown. The pattern is the same: more monthly cost, more paid-ticket headroom, a few extra tools at the top. The per-ticket cut stays roughly the same across all paid tiers.

What it actually costs you

Eventbrite charges you to run. We don't.

Once both platforms pass fees to the buyer, the per-ticket price is nearly identical — so that's not the story. The real difference is what it costs you to operate, and when you actually get your money. That part isn't close.

And yes — your fans even pay a little less (~$1 on a $25 ticket, more as the price climbs). But that's the small stuff. The win that matters is $0/mo instead of up to $100, your money in hand at the sale instead of weeks later, and every tool free instead of split across paid tiers.

Every BuzzHive tool is on every account from day one. On Eventbrite, the tools you need are split across paid tiers — and some BuzzHive tools have no Eventbrite equivalent at all. Yellow flag = the feature exists on Eventbrite but requires a paid tier.

The honest take

When each one actually makes sense.

We're not going to pretend Eventbrite is the villain. They have real strengths. They also have real costs. Here's how we'd think about it.

Eventbrite makes sense if…

You're throwing a multi-thousand-person festival and need their marketplace discovery — Eventbrite's homepage and search engine drive a meaningful chunk of cold traffic if your event genre matches their browse audience.

You want a name buyers already trust at checkout. For an audience that's never heard of you, the Eventbrite logo can lift conversion 1-3 points.

Your stack is wired into a big third-party integrations ecosystem — Eventbrite plugs into hundreds of apps (CRM, email tools, badge printers). BuzzHive ships those capabilities built-in instead, so if you're deeply invested in Eventbrite's marketplace of add-ons, that's a real switching cost.

BuzzHive makes sense if…

You're an underground promoter, DJ, producer, collective, or venue — or you're running weddings, dinners, galas, or corporate events — for an audience you already have or want to build on your own terms. (We started in the underground; the engine now handles any event type, with vibe themes to match.)

You want the buyer list to be yours, exportable anytime, not held hostage behind a paid tier.

You want the per-ticket math to be fair — $0.99 + 2% is meaningfully less than Eventbrite's 3.7% + $1.79, and that gap compounds across every show you run.

You sell reserved seating — a full Seat-Map Studio: a drag-and-drop builder (numbered seats, curved sections, tables, GA zones, ADA), multi-level decks (balcony/mezzanine/boxes), obstructed-view tagging, sightline & value heatmaps, and AI charting (floor-plan photo→chart + Optimize) — plus a real buyer seat-picker at checkout, free, with mixed GA + reserved in one order.

You want the whole product on day one — waitlist, geo analytics, AI copy gen, door scanner, co-promoter splits, artist contracts, the Vibe Studio, a full Website Studio, all of it — without picking a tier.
